Ten months after the small California town of Midwich was struck by a mysterious event during which everyone in the village fell unconscious at once, 10 local women give birth on the same day. As the unsettlingly calm and unemotional children grow at an abnormally fast rate, it becomes clear that they can read adults' minds and force people to harm themselves. Local doctor Alan Chaffee and federal agent Susan Verner must team up to battle the alien children.
This is one of the best horror remakes of the 90's. The movie did not do well at the box office, but it was a pretty good movie on its own. The film makers kept to the original story with many of the shots being close to the same. They only updated some of the scenes of the movie.
I really did like the cast for the movie. It was such an odd mixture, but it worked so well. Christopher Reeve is Superman. It was so hard to see him as anyone else. Reeve is a good solid actor. Kirstie Alley was just great playing that modern medical professional with a slight cold streak running through her smoking yellow cigarettes. Mark Hamill is the priest in the movie. It was pretty cool to see him in a movie, since I had thought he had just disappeared from movies. I loved it. I thought the entire cast was great in the movie.
John Carpenter did a great job of recreating this great story. This is one of those movies that is worth seeing, and I know that not everyone will agree with me. If you have never seen the movie, then I think you should at least once. Enjoy.
