Documentary showcase, what life was like for the music artists living during the Los Angeles Heavy Metal scene in the mid and late 1980s.
I remember when this documentary came out. It was one of those that I recorded off and watched over and over again. I just could not get enough of it. This movie came out in 1988, heavy metal was huge. Heavy Metal music was pop culture in those days. It was all over the place. All of the record stores filled most of their walls with the bands posters and other promotional material. Posters for sale in stores included the bands of heavy metal music. What I'm saying is that the music was all over the 80's culture.
This documentary looked at the metal bands that were playing in the clubs along with the bands and artist that have made it big. The film features concert footage and interviews of legendary heavy metal and hard rock bands and artists such as Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Megadeth, Motörhead, Ozzy Osbourne and W.A.S.P.. Spheeris explores the more famous musicians, including Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Mustaine and Paul Stanley. She then explores unknown bands, such as London, Odin and Seduce. The film also features interviews with members of Poison, Tuff, Vixen and Faster Pussycat.
This documentary is a look into the crazy 80's metal bands when long overly permed hair and mullets were the thing. I liked watching this again to wonder how all of that is now gone. If you can find a copy to watch, then do it. Take a blast from the past. Enjoy.
