Ten years after their high school graduation, Romy and Michele haven't exactly accomplished everything that they set out to do. Despite their strong friendship, their personal and professional lives are still lacking. When they hear of their upcoming high school reunion, they take it as an opportunity to show their classmates how much they've changed, first by trying to reform themselves, then by creating a lie that eventually spins out of control.
This is one of the best comedy movies from the later 90's. This is the most fun movie that you could watch that never gets old. This movie deals with the real high school problems. You have all of the social issues to deal with and the crushes that you had in high school. The main characters have to deal with that crap ten after high school. These problems still haunt them. The only good part about it is that are not aware of how their lives are going. They have not accomplished anything. They are having to go back to face the four bitches of their class. All school classes have those four girls that are popular that look down on most of the other kids. Everyone knows those girls. You are thinking about them now, or you were one of them. I was so glad to see that they added those characters, because it just makes the movie more believable.
Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow seemed like they had been best friends for years. The chemistry between these two women is so natural that you almost think that they have been best friends for years. Janeane Garofalo is the best in this movie. She is so damn funny in this movie. Camryn Manheim is not in this movie that much, but I loved her character in it. She was just so upbeat and positive, and she looked over what was said to her while she was in front of them. The rest of the cast was great.
You really do buy into this movie and the story. All of the characters seem to become real. Like you could go and find and meet these people. The characters in this movie were great. You could really identify with several of the characters. You knew how they must have really felt in the movie. Romy and Michele are two girls that I would have been friends with in high school. They were just written and created so well that you just fall in love with both of them.
The music for this movie was wonderful. It was pop music from the 80's. You really cannot do better than that for a movie. Most people know the music or they remember that time period. They at least know something about the music.
I love this movie. It is one of my favorite movies. If for some reason you have not watched this movie, then by all means you need to do so. Enjoy.
