Director: Paul Lynch
Stars: Leslie Nielsen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Casey Stevens
For six long years, Hamilton High School seniors Kelly Lynch, Jude Cunningham, Wendy Richards and Nick McBride have been hiding the truth of what happened to ten-year-old Robin Hammond the day her broken body was discovered near an abandoned convent. The foursome kept secret of how they taunted Robin - backed her into a corner until, frightened, she stood on a window ledge... and fell to her death. Though an accident, the then-twelve-year-old feared they would be held responsible and vowed never to tell. But someone else was there that day... watching, and now, that someone is ready to exact murderous revenge on prom night.
Here is another slasher horror movie that help launch the beginning of slasher movies and Jamie Lee Curtis' career. The late 70's and early 80's were the best time for slasher movies. Now, this was not the best slasher movie, but it is a damn good one. It is like all of these movie, it takes some time for the movie to get going, but when the killing starts, it seems like it is not going to start.
The killings in the movie were pretty average for any slasher movie. There is not a lot of gore or blood in the movie. I mean, it is just a guy with a knife and other weapons killing high school girls. Just that information alone makes for at least a good movie. Teenagers getting killed by a nut case during their high school prom, so you have a great story right off the bat. It is an average slasher story line, but it still works for the movie. I mean, being in a high school at night with no lights on is still really creepy.
The cast is pretty good, but they really do not look the part. They are suppose to be high school seniors. All of the actors playing students were in their mid to late twenties. That is what I really love about these movies. Jamie Lee Curtis was perfect in this movie. You get to see her pull off some awesome 70's disco dancing on a lighted dance floor.
This is a great movie. I know it is not the best horror movie out there or one of the best, but it is a good solid horror movie. It does have a simple story, and it is a bit cheesy at times. I still like this movie. It is a totally 80's movie. Enjoy.
