Party Girl (1995)

Director: Daisy von Scherler Mayer

Stars: Parker Posey, Omar Townsend, Anthony DeSando, Guillermo Díaz, Liev Schreiber

Mary is a free-spirited young woman with a run-down New York apartment and a high fashion wardrobe. She calls her godmother, a librarian, for bail money after being arrested for throwing an illegal party. To repay the loan, she begins working as a library clerk. At first she hates it, but when challenged decides to master the Dewey Decimal System and become a great library clerk, while romancing a falafel vendor and helping her roommate in his goal to become a professional DJ.

This is one of the best indie movies to come out of the 90's. There was really nothing wrong with this movie at all. The cast was great. The story was really cool for the day. The music was great for back in the day.

I loved this when it came out. It was one of those movies that I watched over and over again. I just could not get enough of it. I thought it was the coolest movie at the time. The story was pretty simple. A party girl needs to pay her rent and still have the money to party, so she goes to work at a library. It was the other characters that really made this movie a big hit. All of the characters blended so well together. The soundtrack for the movie is the best. It is a lot of underground dance music of the mid 90's, so you know it is good.

The cast for the movie was awesome. First of all, Parker Posey does no wrong, for the most part. I love her. She has done some of the best movies. Guillermo Díaz was great in this movie. He plays straight in this movie, which made me really wonder if he was straight. He has play gay in so many movies, but he is gay. Liev Schreiber is not in this movie much, but it is the first time I remember him in a movie. He was okay in the movie. He got so much better after this movie. This was the only movie that Omar Townsend did. He was the love interest in the movie.  He did not Parker Posey at all, and he stayed away from her when they were not filming. That is why he sucks. She is awesome.

This is a great movie that people really need to see. I love this movie. I just wish it would finally be released on blue-ray. We need this to happen. Watch this movie, if you haven't. Enjoy.
