In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X at a remote outpost on the Mexican border. His plan to hide from the outside world gets upended when he meets a young mutant who is very much like him. Logan must now protect the girl and battle the dark forces that want to capture her.
This is one of the best Marvel movies that I have seen. All of the Marvel movies need to be R rated. That rating gave the movie makers and creators more to work with and not have to worry about what the children that watch the movie will think. Who cares! I do not care about the opinion of a child when it is about something that they do not understand in the first place. They finally had made a Marvel movie for adults, because we are the ones that spend and give the money to the children for movie.
We finally get to learn about Logan in the future. This story comes from Marvel's iconic Old Man Logan comic to tell the story of a grim and desolate future, where mutant-kind is all but extinct. This movie does not come out of nowhere. It is a real storyline from the Marvel comic world.
This is filled with the blood and violence that we have been waiting for from all of the Marvel movies. When the first fight scene started with Logan and X-23 fighting together, I could not believe my eyes. Was I really seeing blood flying through the air? I then saw a head being cut off and blades going through heads. I was just in shock. I knew that the movie received an R rating, but I thought it was going to be because of language, but the movie goes so far beyond that. The language was adult and real. It was not let's make the language bad just to do. All of the "bad words" in the movie fit into the conversation where it was placed. The blood and violence in the movie was such a big surprise for me. It was just really what I have been wanting to see, and the wish came true.
The introduction of X-23 was wonderful. She is so much like Wolverine that it is like two Wolverines fighting at once, but she has the speed and quickness that only a little girl could have. Logan is just too old in this to move like X-23 can. She is a cute and scary little girl in this movie. There is so little time place on the other young mutant kids that they are barely in the story at all. They are all just so easily forgotten. That is the bad part of the movie. Those kids are just in the background too much.
For this movie, you are introduced to new characters for the Marvel movies, and you have the departing of Hugh Jackman as Logan. He said that this was the last time that he was going to play the character for a movie. The real surprise is that they brought back Professor X for the movie. Because they killed him off in the third X-Men movie. You remember where they screwed up the whole storyline.
This movie was an amped up Marvel movie. It was about damn time. Adults are huge fans of Marvel as well as children. We need more movies like this made. I was really impressed with the movie. If you have not seen it yet, then you really need to. It is so well worth watching and owning. Enjoy.
