Director: Hideo Nakata
Stars: Naomi Watts, David Dorfman, Sissy Spacek, Elizabeth Perkins, Gary Cole
Six months after Rachel and her son Aidan move to Oregon to forget their encounter with the supernatural, strange events still plague them. And when a mysterious videotape is found at a crime scene, it's proof that evil Samara Morgan wants revenge.
This sequel is a lot like the first one, but it is not as good. I mean, it is not a bad movie at all. It is just that the first one was so much better. The movie starts out like the first one did, so you think that you are rewatching the first one. The story just starts to investigate more into this dead woman that is haunting this VHS tape, and the people who watch it. It is much like the first one.
For this movie, learn more about the story, which is good. The story becomes more complex. You do get to see that girl a bit more in this one with some decent CGI special effects. Thiose spots were not really needed in the movie, but there are there to enjoy.
I was just surprised that Naomi Watts came back for this movie. It is rare that the main actor from the first one comes back for the sequel. I mean still in the whole movie. Normally that person is killed at the beginning of the second movie. They are not in the entire movie. Sissy Spacek is always a great addition to any movie. She does no wrong. Elizabeth Perkins was another surprise, but you never really see her in movie anymore, because she has gotten older, and she has talent. The cast for the movie was great.
This movie is good and worth watching. It is not as good as the first one, but there are not too many movie that the sequel is better than the first one. It may even be a movie you will want to add to your own private collection. Enjoy.
