The sleepy little town of Woodsboro just woke up screaming. There's a killer in their midst who's seen a few too many scary movies. Suddenly nobody is safe, as the psychopath stalks victims, taunts them with trivia questions, then rips them to bloody shreds. It could be anybody.
When this movie came out, people were talking all about it. I did not hear anything bad about this movie at all. Friends of mine were singing this movies' praise. So going into it, the movie was hyped up more than you could imagine. People call it the best slasher movie. I would not go that far at all.
There are some awesome slasher movies made before this one.
This movie was filled with a great story that kept you guessing throughout the whole time. You were never really sure who was killing everybody. As soon you think you have it figured out, then something happens to change your mind. The movie was great for keeping you guessing. This was also the start of the horror movie survival guide talk about in the movie itself. That was pretty interesting to talk about in a horror, but it started too much of a trend that has been done in too many other movies.
The killings were a lot of the same. It was almost all done with a knife and not much more. I just wanted more crazy killings than anything else, but sadly it was a lot of the same thing. There was a lot of blood in the movie, but the gore was down to a minimal.
The cast was the popular and up and coming young actors in the business. There are not the best actors, because outside of these movies, they did not go that far at all.
I like this movie, but it is not the best slasher or horror movie out there. It is not even close. Popularity does not equal good. I wish people would get that. They will never understand that concept. If for some reason you have never seen this movie, then go do it. It's time. Enjoy.
