The Magnificent Seven (2016)

Director: Antoine Fuqua

Stars: Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Byung-hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Matt Bomer, Peter Sarsgaard, Martin Sensmeier

Looking to mine for gold, greedy industrialist Bartholomew Bogue seizes control of the Old West town of Rose Creek. With their lives in jeopardy, Emma Cullen and other desperate residents turn to bounty hunter Sam Chisolm for help. Chisolm recruits an eclectic group of gunslingers to take on Bogue and his ruthless henchmen. With a deadly showdown on the horizon, the seven mercenaries soon find themselves fighting for more than just money once the bullets start to fly.

I have no idea why they thought that this movie needed a remake. Was there something wrong with it that it needed to be fixed? I don't think so. There was nothing wrong with it at all. They just wanted an up dated version for the kids of today to watch, so they have something to relate to. That is the only reason to remake this movie, because there was no reason other than they just threw this together for money.

They took a classic western remade it with newer male actors for no reason. The movie itself was good, if you do not compare it to the original movie. The movie looked good. It was entertaining. It just was not needed.

The actors in the movie were fine. They did what they always do for most big remakes. They grab the hottest most popular stars at the time, and they put them in the movie. They just messed up on this movie. Denzel Washington had no business being in the movie. In the time that this movie is set, there was not black people out west that were running gangs. They were racists in those days. That is just a fact, so it did not make much sense to have him be the lead in the movie. In the West, there was white, Native Americans and Mexicans. That made up most of the population. He was good in the movie. It was that fact that took it out of the movie for me. The rest of the cast was fine. I really had no complaints.

This is a movie that was well made, but it was just so not needed at all. They just need to stop making all of these remakes. Most of them are bad. This is a movie worth watching, but that is about it. Watch the original one for a good western to watch. Enjoy.
