Monster Trucks (2016)

Director: Chris Wedge

Stars: Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Thomas Lennon, Rob Lowe, Danny Glover

Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp, a high school senior, builds a monster truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town with a most unlikely friend.

I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie. I had no interest in watching this movie at all. I thought this movie was good to the beginning to the end.

At the start of the movie, the character of Tripp was the worst character in the movie. You have several different other kids trying to be friends with him, but he is so lost in his own head that he comes off like the biggest jerk. You instantly do not like him in the movie. You feel a bit sorry for the rest of the kids.

The villains in the movie are the oil company, as it should be. They are the ones destroying the land and the home of these ancient sea creatures. It is something that would really happen. I mean large companies doing whatever they want to whoever they want. This was just another way of telling that story.

Creep was the best part of the movie, since he was really the star of the movie. He looks like a blue/gray octopus mixed with a beluga whale. It is one of the cutest creatures that I have seen in a long time. I just fell in love with that creatures. The animation for Creep was great. They made that thing look as if it was real. Like you could go somewhere to see one. They gave Creep personality. All of the facial expressions that you saw on its face help bring the character to life. All of it made that character more lovable.

The special effects for the movie looked amazing. These trucks climbing up walls and on top of buildings looked awesome. It seemed as if the truck could really fly in the air like that. They really put a lot of time in to this movie to make it work.

It is a shame that this movie did not go over like it should have. It is a great family movie, and young boys would really like it. It is a movie well worth seeing. I thought it was a great movie. It may even be a movie that you would want to add to your personal collection. Enjoy.
