The Descent: Part 2 (2009)

Director: Jon Harris

Stars: Michael J. Reynolds, Shauna Macdonald, Jessika Williams, Douglas Hodge, Josh Dallas

Distraught, confused, and half-wild with fear, Sarah Carter emerges alone from the Appalachian cave system where she encountered unspeakable terrors. Unable to plausibly explain to the authorities what happened - or why she's covered in her friends' blood - Sarah is forced back to the subterranean depths to help locate her five missing companions. As the rescue party drives deeper into uncharted caverns, nightmarish visions of the recent past begin to haunt Sarah and she starts to realize the full horror and futility of the mission. Subjected to the suspicion and mistrust of the group and confronted once more by the inbred, feral and savagely ruthless Crawlers, Sarah must draw on all her inner reserves of strength and courage in a desperate final struggle for deliverance and redemption.

This poor woman has just escaped hell from this unknown cave filled with man eating creatures. When they find her, they think that she killed her friends, so the sheriff wants her to go back down with the rescue team to see if any of her friends are still alive. That would be the dumbest thing to do. If it were up to me, if there were any survivors they would be screwed, because I would not risk my life again to see if others were alive. I would be going home and seeking therapy for the rest of my life. That poor woman went through some terrible trauma.

I mean, this movie is a lot like the first one. You have these creatures living underground in this cave living off of animals near the opening of the cave and the people that enter the cave. People are going to a cave that has not yet been discovered, so it is easy to get lost.

The creatures still look the same. They did not try to change how they look for a new movie. It made the movie seem like it really did take place right after the first one. The characters are not the brightest at all. I mean if you hear a story like that, and you still want to go down there for a rescue mission, there is something wrong with you. Have they not seen a horror movie before? You are going to die, well at least most of the party will.

Even though this movie is a sequel, I still liked it. This is one of those movie that is worth watching and maybe owning. It is worth watching more than once. Enjoy.
