King Cobra (2016)

Director: Justin Kelly

Stars: Garrett Clayton, Christian Slater, Molly Ringwald, James Franco, Alicia Silverstone

It's 2006, YouTube is in its infancy, and internet porn is still behind a pay wall. Taking the stage name Brent Corrigan, a fresh-faced, wannabe adult video performer is molded into a star by Stephen, a closeted gay porn mogul who runs the skin flick empire Cobra Video from his seemingly ordinary suburban home. But as Brent's rise and demands for more money put him at odds with his boss, he also attracts the attention of a rival producer and his unstable lover.

This is movie is based on a true story.

This is a true crime movie about a closet case that runs an independent porn company that started to get big, because of one new found young boy that starred in his films. Brent Corrigan lied about his age to do porn, and he put these people at risk. He just wanted to be a porn star. He is the part of the reason someone was murder. He got greedy and wanted more money. A closet case was killed by unstable drug addicts.

The movie plays out like an adult version of a Life Time movie. It reeks of it. The pace for the movie is mostly slow as hell. There is nothing sexy about this movie at all. I thought it would be, since closeted James Franco had a part in it. He likes sexy gay scenes. Oh, you know I'm right. The movie is just kind of flat. It is barely worth watching at all. That is still questionable.

The cast was the main reason why I wanted to see this movie. It was good to see Christian Slater in a movie at all. It was great to see him play a gay roles, even though there really was no gay scene with him in it. I was hoping to see that. Molly Ringwald played his wife which I was so thrilled to see her in anything. I just wanted more of her. James Franco needs to just come on out of the closet and get it over with. Alicia Silverstone has been another one of those actors that have seemed to disappear. It was so good to see all of them in this movie. I just wish it was a better movie.

This movie was a bore. I know there will be several out there that want to see this movie no matter what, just because it is a new bigger gay movie. That is not really a reason to watch this movie. It is worth watching once, and I think that is it. Enjoy.
