Sam, the son of famous video-game developer Kevin Flynn, has been haunted for a long time by his father's mysterious disappearance. A strange signal draws Sam to Flynn's Arcade, and he is pulled into the same cyberworld in which his father, its creator, has been trapped for 20 years. With fearless warrior Quorra, Kevin and Sam seek to escape from a universe that, while magnificent, is far more advanced and dangerous than Kevin had ever imagined.
The story for the movie was better than I thought it was going to be. I thought there was not going to be much of a story at all. I was wrong, but the story is simple in some ways while others it is not. Sam finds his father trapped in a video game world that his own father created. Sam gets to go inside the game to rescue him. That is a pretty odd story, but then just think of the fact of creating an alternate world that you developed, then you become trapped there for years. The rest of the world believes you dead. The transition from movie to movie was not bad at all. The second movie came out almost 30 years later.
Of course the special effects are going to look a thousand times better than the first one. It was the effects that made this movie the success that it received. The movie looked great. They kept most of the same color palette while added a few new colors for the movie to show the bad and the good side. The racing scenes in the movie were quick and looked flawless. Using an image of Jeff Bridges when he was younger to play the villain in this movie was pretty cool. I was impressed with that.
I thought this was a really cool movie. I was impressed with the story and how they made this sequel almost 30 years after the first one. I was glad that Disney made the transition so smooth. This is a movie to give a chance. It is worth watching once. Enjoy.
