New York substitute science teacher/stand-up comic Richard Martinez - who isn't even remotely effective at either - finally lands a full-time position in Texas through the Teaching Ambassador Program, but his stint falls short when it's discovered he's gay. With only one friendly local behind him, Richard returns to the school as sassy Bianca Del Rio, an outspoken teacher who'll put the unruly students and hypocritical school staff in their proper places, instantly becoming the best teacher he's ever been and the school has ever seen.
I'm a fan of Bianca Del Rio. I love her stand-up shows, so I was excited about a movie coming out. Now I had my doubts, since movies like this are nothing but the stand-up act turned into a movie. This movie was no too far off from that. There is a lot of her stand-up show in the movie. It seems like they just wrote a story around what she does on stage. That is what this movie is, but it worked well enough for the movie.
The storyline was one that you kind of wish would really happen to some of these people. You want that evil teacher or school to be told and handled by someone that will put them in their place to stop all of their stupidity. You know the stupidity that I speak of that happens in small towns in the South. Some of us are all too familiar with it all. That is how this movie, revenge on those assholes that need and deserve it. It makes for a great story that has been told several times by other, but this movie was a great start for a new version of the story.
The cast was a wonderful surprise. Since Bianca Del Rio won RuPaul's Drag Race for her season, I was hoping that she won get some of the other Racers to be in the movie. She go the some of the best of them. She got some talent for this movie. Willam Belli, and Shangela are his best friends that help him overcome his troubles. Joslyn Fox is keeping it foxy behind the bar. Alyssa Edwards is working the stage. They all were great in their roles. They were some of the best surprese in the movie. I was so glad to see them in a movie. RuPaul has a very small part in the movie, but he even was there to help out. Margaret Cho was in the movie for five seconds. Rachel Dratch was really funny as the "villain" of the movie. She is great. Anyone could have played Alan Cumming's role, but he was still good in the movie.
I was surprised by this movie. I thought it was going to be kind of bad, because these type of movie usually are. I was glad it turned out to be a pretty good movie. If you have not seen this movie yet, then do yourself a favor and watch this movie. It is worth watching. Enjoy.
