Alien: Resurrection (1997)

Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Stars: Sigourney Weaver, Winona Ryder, Dominique Pinon, Ron Perlman, Brad Dourif

Two hundred years after Ellen Ripley died trying to eliminate the Alien species, they brought her back from blood samples taken earlier. It took several tries, and un-fortunate failures to get it right, but they weren't interested in Ellen Ripley- they wanted the alien inside her; and they got it, but they got more than they bargained for. When the aliens grew smart, they broke out of their enclosures. When the crew tried to run, they killed them. And when the Queen's secret was revealed, it exposed a bizarre DNA mix-up that left both Ripley and the queen's genetics intertwined; giving light to a new alien that could spell certain doom for Earth.

People had problems with this movie, since Ripley died in the last movie. There was that wonder of how all of this was going to work out for the movie. They just used DNA cloning which at the time was a big topic in the news, so they threw it in the movie. It was big surprise on how they were going to make another Alien movie.

The story for the movie was really good. It was really interesting on how deep the story went. You could see what was going on, since the aliens have been captured by men. They have been studied by scientist to see how the aliens breed. They wanted to make a perfect alien-human hybrid. That was the best part of the whole movie to me. I really wanted to more about that whole part of the story.
The cast of this movie was great. You have Sigourney Weaver coming back to reprise her role. She was great in the movie as always. Ron Perlman and Brad Dourif does no wrong at all in anything that they do. I think they are both great actors. The real surprise in the movie was the fact that Winona Ryder had a major part in the movie. She had up this point been in dramas and romantic comedies. It was a real shock to see her in a sci-fi movie. She was surprisingly good in the movie.

The special effects for the movie was more impressive than the other movies. The creation of the other "creatures" looked so amazing and creepy that I wanted more of that in the movie. I hated that that whole scene in the movie was so short and limited. It was well worth it though.

I still really do like this movie a lot. It is the best way to finish a series, but as of today, the series is not finished at all. They are making more movies. If for some reason you have stayed away from this movie, then you need to watch it. Enjoy.
