Director: Roland Emmerich

Stars: Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Mary McDonnell, Judd Hirsch, Robert Loggia, Randy Quaid, Vivica A. Fox, Harvey Fierstein, Adam Baldwin, James Duval, Harry Connick Jr.

On a Fourth of July weekend, large stormy clouds start to role in over every major city in the world. The aliens are coming and their goal is to invade and destroy Earth. A countdown is discovered on a satellite. At the end of the count, the alien spaceship start attacking. With fighting superior technology, mankind's best weapon is the will to survive.

I do not know of one people that have not seen this movie, but I know that there are those that still have not seen this movie yet. Those people in caves, and the ones trapped under refrigerators. This movie was one of the biggest summer blockbuster. Everyone went to see this movie. It was a packed house, since it came out the day the day before July 4th.

This movie had a huge cast. Will Smith was the star of the movie, and in those days he did no wrong. If he was in it, the movie was a hit. The rest of the cast was so much better than him though. I did not see Bill Pullman as The President of the United States. That was a little bit of a stretch, but I bought into it anyway. The little time that Harvey Fierstein was in the movie added more comic relief than Will Smith did in the entire movie. Harvey is a lot more talented than he is. I loved the cast for this movie.

The special effects for the day were some of the best that we had seen in a movie. That was the main reason it was the summer blockbuster for that year. They filmed the White House blowing up. It was just a model, but it really did look like it was real. All of the explosions and buildings being blown away looked as if it was really happening, and they were just filming it. It looked amazing. The aliens did not look that bad at all. They took the basic look of an alien from other movies and made it look more evil and menacing. The special effects made this movie a hit. It is those scenes that stand out for this movie.

I really did like this movie. It was great to see in the cinema and to watch at home. In the summertime this movie is all over the cable channels. This is a movie to add to your collection. It is well worth it. Enjoy.
