Hoping to escape from his troubled past, former DEA agent Phil Broker moves to a seemingly quiet backwater town in the bayou with his daughter. However, he finds anything but quiet there, for the town is riddled with drugs and violence. When Gator Bodine, a sociopathic druglord, puts the newcomer and his young daughter in harm's way, Broker is forced back into action to save her and their home.
I was really surprised by how much that I liked this movie. I do not like action movies, but this one at least had a story, instead of just one fight or explosion one right after another. There was a story with a real cast. It was not what I was expecting at all.
The story was something that could really happen. It did take place in the South, and that type of stuff does happen there. It is just not to that extreme. There are not waterfront warehouses blowing up filled with meth. Meth is really big in the South. It was nice to see people making that crap get all of their stash destroyed.
Jason Statham was like he is in all of these action movies. There was not much difference at all. It was a big surprise to see Winona Ryder in this movie. I would not think that she would be in a movie like this, but she is not in high demand at all anymore. She was good at playing a whit trash borderline hooker/ bar maid. She needed the money. The biggest disappointment in the movie was James Franco. Why in the hell was he even in this movie? They could have gotten anyone to do this movie. He is so overrated that it is not even funny.
This movie is not bad at all. It is well worth watching at least once. I was entertained the entire time watching this movie. If you have not seen this movie, then you really might want to give it a chance. Enjoy.
