Dead Alive (1992)

Director: Peter Jackson

Stars: Timothy Balme, Diana Peñalver, Elizabeth Moody

Lionel, a Mama's boy has the unwanted honor of having to look after his overbearingly evil mother. He ends up falling in love with a local woman who believes that they're destined together. In a moment of intentional sabotage of one of their dates, his mother is bitten by a mysterious creature that ends up zombifying her. It's only a matter of time before she rises from the dead a powerful, bloodthirsty zombie. It's only a matter of time before she starts infecting residents of the town and Lionel has to stop her and them.

This is the best comedy horror movie that has been made in a really long time. I mean there is nothing bad going on in this movie at all. This is one of Peter Jackson's best movies to date. Many probably do not know that he made this movie. They mainly know him from The Lord of the Ring and The Hobbit movies. Most people do not know his early movies.

The story for this movie is pretty basic. What made this movie work so well was the characters. They are some of the best characters that I have seen in a movie. The son is just so whipped that he can barely breathe. His mother is so over barring and controlling that it makes for the best dialogue in the movie. Her attitude and verbal beating never stops during the movie. Lionel's uncle is the biggest piece of crap that you could find, but as an actor, he is really great in movies.

The make-up work and the special are incredibly gory and bloody all through this movie. There are so many great deaths, zombies and creatures in this movie that there are too many to count or mention. It is just a blood splatter fest for the eyes.

I love this movie. It is wonderful for any horror fan. If you have not seen this movie, then what in the world are you waiting for. It is worth adding to your private collection. Enjoy.
