Winter's Tale (2014)

Director: Akiva Goldsman

Stars: Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Russell Crowe, Matt Bomer, William Hurt

One night in early 20th-century New York, master thief Peter Lake breaks into a Central Park mansion and quickly has his heart stolen by its occupant, Beverly Penn. Unfortunately, their love is star-crossed. She is dying from consumption, and he is marked for death by his demonic former mentor, Pearly Soames. Peter battles the forces of time and darkness to save Beverly, even as Pearly does everything in his power to defeat Peter.

This movie is one of those farfetched love stories that span through time. Reality is just too hard to deal with, so that is why these movies exist. We need that hope and belief to stay alive in us no matter what.

The cast was about average. These are not award winning performances. It is all good, but it is not great. The story is good and somewhat solid. The pace is just not fast enough. It is beautifully shot. The scenes look so wonderful, and the lighting is breathtaking.

This movie was pretty slow, but it was not a bad movie. It is just one that you have to stick with. It is best to watch this movie by yourself. Do not and try to watch this with several people around you. You will get lost from the movie really quick. Give it a chance. Enjoy.
