Director: Frederick Wiseman
Documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman takes us inside the Massachusetts Correctional Institution Bridgewater where people stay trapped in their madness.
This was pretty hard to watch. You see how these men were treated. Knowing that so many of the men were mentally ill shows how people with mental illness were treated by the state. People think that being in jail or prison is bad now. It was so much worse several decades ago. It was nothing but rough treatment. The state and people in general did not care about the treatment of criminals back in those days. Only the prisoners families care about their condition, if they were lucky.
There is a lot of male nudity in this documentary. If that bothers you, then you do not need to watch this. It is worth watching. Some of the images might stick in your head. Just be thankful that people are treated better now days. Enjoy.
