The Revenant (2015)

Director: Alejandro G. Iñárritu

Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Will Poulter

Inspired by true events, this movie is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald. Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.

When this movie came out all you heard about it was the scene with the bear. The main character being attacked by a bear. Nothing else really about it. The scenes of the bear attack are very realistic. They are absolutely great. The cinematography and camera work was some of the best that I have seen. The backgrounds and the landscape shots are breathtaking. The movie was so well made. The production was top notch. Those are the good parts about the movie.

The bad part of the movie was the dialogue. Where in the hell was it? There are so many sections in the movie that where no one speaks. I know that do that to create more drama for the movie, but to be real, who walks around completely alone and does not say a word? Most people would at least talk to themselves, but I guess that is not enough drama for the movie. It is base on true events, right? Tom Hardy's accent was terrible. He needed to stop and just speak like he normally does. The pace for the movie was so slow too many times in the movie. You do not even need to pause it, if you have to get up and get something or go to the restroom. You will not miss that much.

I know this movie was the most highly praised movie for the year and the award season. It was the best movie with winning many awards. I do not think that this is a rewatcher. I really do not want to watch an man not die after going through all of these terrible situations. Enjoy.
