Accompanied by his ragtag crew, an enthusiastic pirate captain sails the high seas and dreams of besting his bitter rivals, Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz, in a quest to win the coveted title of Pirate of the Year. The captain's quest takes him and his comrades from the exotic shores of Blood Island to Victorian London's foggy streets. Along the way, they battle a clever queen and join forces with a young scientist named Charles Darwin.
This movie looks great. The animation with the clay models is so smooth that you almost forget that you are watching a animated movie. The colors used for the background and the characters themselves pop on the screen. The colors are vibrant and beautiful. The voice work in the movie blended well with the story and the movie. You really could not tell who was the voice for who. Nothing really stood out at all. Everything went so well with all of the components of the movie that it worked so well together.
The real stand out for me in the movie was the character of the Queen. It was funny in an unexpected way. Normally when you see royalty in any type of movie, they are all the same, stuffy. The character was funny and well created.
I liked this movie a lot. It was so well made. It is just sad that it was not that popular. I guess all that is British does not go well with an American audience. It is sad. If you have not seen this movie, then you need to watch this. I was surprised by how good it was. Enjoy.
