The Kid is a Minneapolis musician on the rise with his band, the Revolution, escaping a tumultuous home life through music. While trying to avoid making the same mistakes as his father, the Kid navigates the club scene and a rocky relationship with singer, Apollonia. But, another musician, Morris, looks to steal the Kid's spotlight and his girl.
This movie is known to be the launch that shot Prince up to super stardom. He was well known by most people, but after this movie came out everybody knew whom he was. He even won an Oscar for this movie. It was for Best Song, but still he got one.
This movie is known for the soundtrack. It was an awesome soundtrack. It was not one of those that has a few good songs on it. Every single song on there is great. It is one of the best soundtracks, period. To this day, it is a great soundtrack to listen to.
The movie itself is good. This is not a great change your life movie, but it is really cool. You get to see some great performances in the movie from Prince and the Revolution and Morris Day and The Time. There is also a performance from the new Prince created girl group Apollonia 6. There are several parts of the movie that is loosely based on Prince's own life.
I love this movie. It is just an 80's classic from some of the best time in music. If for some reason you have not seen this movie, then get out from that rock that you live under and go and watch this movie. What have you been waiting for. Enjoy.
