Dirty Grandpa (2016)

Director: Dan Mazer

Stars: Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Zoey Deutch, Dermot Mulroney, Mo Collins, Danny Glover

Jason Kelly is one week away from marrying his boss's uber-controlling daughter, putting him on the fast track for a partnership at the law firm. However, when the straight-laced Jason is tricked into driving his foul-mouthed grandfather, Dick, to Daytona for spring break, his pending nuptials are suddenly in jeopardy. Between riotous frat parties, bar fights, and an epic night of karaoke, Dick is on a quest to live his life to the fullest and bring Jason along for the ride. Ultimately, on the wildest journey of their lives, "dirty" Grandpa and his uptight grandson discover they can learn from one another and form the bond they never had.

I thought this was going to be one of the dumbest movie that was out there. I was kind of wrong. It is not that terrible. When this movie came out, the main part that ran through my mind was "Why was Robert De Niro in a movie with Zac Efron?". It just did not seem right. I know De Niro is also a comedic actor, but he is many levels above Zac Efron. The good part of the movie is that they play well off of one another. The chemistry between the two seemed to work well together.

The movie was made for young adults, high school kids and frat boys. This is the audience for the movie. I mean just think about it. It is a lot of skin and dick jokes. There were some funny scenes in the movie. It made the movie watchable. The real sad part of the movie is that people came to see the movie because of Zac Efron. There were several scenes where is was not wearing much at all. That made the movie. If he was naked in the movie, it would have been the biggest hit of the year. That is the truth. He is hot, and people want to see him barely dressed.

Like I said, this is not a bad movie. It is a light comedy about bring family members together and being honest with one another. That is a good way to start a movie, then show some skin. This movie is worth watching once of maybe twice. I do not really see this as a rewatcher, but some people may want to do that. Enjoy.
