Argo (2012)

Director: Ben Affleck

Stars: Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin, Victor Garber, Tate Donovan, Kyle Chandler

In 1979, the American embassy in Iran was invaded by Iranian revolutionaries and several Americans were taken hostage. However, six managed to escape to the official residence of the Canadian Ambassador and the CIA was ordered to get them out of the country. With few options, exfiltration expert Tony Mendez devised a daring plan: create a phony Canadian film project looking to shoot in Iran and smuggle the Americans out as its production crew. With the help of some trusted Hollywood contacts, Mendez created the ruse and proceeded to Iran as its associate producer. However, time was running out with the Iranian security forces closing in on the truth while both his charges and the White House had grave doubts about the operation themselves.

This is a great movie. I really had no complaints about this movie at all. It was interesting, and it kept my interest in the story. The movie looked so good. I mean every little part of it. All of the locations were well research. It made it look like the movie was a part of the news at times. The wardrobe made the movie seem more of the time period of the late 70's.

I just loved the story of the movie. It would have made a good movie anyway, but to known that this was based on actual events, makes the movie even better. As weird as our government is, to think that they would allow movie people to work together with the government to save some hostages. That would not happen today at all. At least, I do not think that it would.

The cast was brilliant. You have a movie will one of the best seasoned cast that one could come up with. John Goodman and Alan Arkin playing two men that work and create together in Hollywood. I buy that. They looked like it was real. Like they were creating real meeting. It just worked. Ben Affleck was great in this movie. He has turned out to be one of the best actors in Hollywood. As for being a director, he was amazing at the role. This was clearly a well made movie that deserved all of the press and awards that it received.

Like I said, I had no complaints at all with this movie. If you have not watched this movie yet, then you need to do so. It took me a long time after it was released to finally watch it. I do not know why I stayed away from it. It is well worth watching. Enjoy.
