And Soon the Darkness (2010)

Director: Marcos Efron

Stars: Amber Heard, Odette Annable, Karl Urban

Stephanie and Ellie's vacation to an exotic village in Argentina is a perfect 'girl's getaway' to bask in the sun, shop and flirt with the handsome locals. After a long night of bar-hopping, the girls get into an argument, and Stephanie heads out alone in the morning to cool off. But when she returns, Ellie has disappeared. Finding signs of a struggle, Stephanie fears the worst, and turns to the police for help. But the local authorities have their hands full already - with a string of unsolved kidnappings targeting young female tourists. Skeptical of the sheriff's competency, she enlists help from Michael, an American ex-pat staying at their hotel. Together they go on a frantic search for Ellie, but Stephanie soon realizes that trusting his seemingly good intentions may drag her farther from the truth. With danger mounting, and time running out, Stephanie must find her friend before darkness falls.

This movie was like so many other horror movies that has been made. Stupid young girls vacation to another country, get drunk and one gets into trouble because she is drunk and trying to hook up. Of course, something bad is going to happen. It always does. In every single movie when this happens, people will die. They deserve it. Did they not know the rules?

This movie is nothing that we have not seen a hundred times before, and we will keep on seeing it. It is a popular scenario for simple horror movies. This is why there are so many movie like this out there. It is so easy to pop these movies out. They are not too bloody or gory scenes in the movie. It is just keeping the idea in people's heads of being kidnapped, tortured and killed by a total stranger just for the fun of it.

This one was not too bad. It was worth watching once, but the movie left out many of the details to explain what and why all of this was happening. It left out some of the most important information that the audience needs to get into the movie. It was not like this was some great movie with tons of depth.

The moral of this story is to not make friends with the locals. They may want to rape and sell you ladies.

This movie was worth watching once, but there is no interest in watching this movie again. It is not worth a second viewing. Enjoy.
