In the walled city of Thneed-Ville, where everything is artificial and even the air is a commodity, a boy named Ted hopes to win the heart of his dream girl, Audrey. When he learns of her wish to see a real tree, Ted seeks out the Once-ler, a ruined old businessman outside of town in a stark wasteland. Upon hearing of how the hermit gave into his greed for profits and devastated the land over the protests of the Lorax, Ted is inspired to undo the disaster. However, the greedy Mayor of Thneed-Ville, Aloysius O'Hare, has made his fortune exploiting the environmental collapse and is determined to stop the boy from undermining his business.
This movie was a big change from the cartoon and the book. There was so much more added to make it longer without just showing the same scenes over and over again. The story that they created worked so well for the movie. When it was all said and done, they made a really good children's movie out of it. They even were able to include a better moral in the movie than what was in the book. I was uneasy about this movie, but they really did knock it out of the park. They did not try and dumb down the audience in any way.
The voice talent was a picking of younger popular talent with some amazing actors creating the voices and personalities for these characters. You know that I'm talking about Danny DeVito. Everyone knows his voice when it is spoken.
This was a wonderfully bright well created animated movie for children and adults alike. If you have kids, this is a movie that needs to be added to your collection. I think this is a rewatcher. I like it more than I thought I would. Enjoy.
