Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016)

Director: James Bobin

Stars: Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, Matt Lucas, Alan Rickman

Alice Kingsleigh has spent the past few years following in her father’s footsteps and sailing the high seas. Upon her return to London, she comes across a magical looking glass and returns to the fantastical realm of Underland and her friends the White Rabbit, Absolem, the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter, who is not himself. The Hatter has lost his Muchness, so Mirana sends Alice on a quest to borrow the Chronosphere, a metallic globe inside the chamber of the Grand Clock which powers all time. Returning to the past, she comes across friends and enemies, at different points in their lives, then embarks on a perilous race to save the Hatter before time runs out.

At the same time, this was a good movie and a bad movie. Let's start with the good. The special effects and the computer work on this movie was way over the top. It looks absolutely amazing. When Alice is going through the ocean waves of time, the look of all of those scenes are flawless. They were wonderful made. The creation of all of the creatures are character looked great. Just as good as the first one. The costumes were bright and colorful. I loved the look of all of it.

The bad part of the movies was the story. Where was it? It was so small and thin that it just kind of just sat there in the room. The main part of the whole movie was just to tell the history of a few of the characters, and how they were intertwined. They was nothing else, except for returning an orb that Alice had stolen to set time right again. She was just a trouble maker in this one, for the part. I still do not understand why the Mad Hatter has on all of that make-up? It just is not necessary at all. The worst part of all of it was the song by Pink that was at the end of the movie. There was no reason to spend the extra money on her or that song for the movie. It had nothing to do with the movie. It was just pointless.

Burton has completely lost his touch. It is all about look with no story. He use to be so good at both. What in the hell happened to him. I know HBC had something to do with it. This is a movie that is worth watching, but you do not have to pay that much attention to it. You will not have missed much. Enjoy.
