George Bailey is a small-town man whose life seems so desperate he contemplates suicide. He had always wanted to leave Bedford Falls to see the world, but circumstances and his own good heart have led him to stay. He sacrificed his education for his brother's, kept the family-run savings and loan afloat, protected the town from the avarice of the greedy banker Mr. Potter, and married his childhood sweetheart. As he prepares to jump from a bridge, his guardian angel intercedes, showing him what life would have become for the residents of Bedford Falls is he had never lived.
The story is so simple, but it is complex at the same time. If you put yourself in the story, you are looking back to see if you life really did matter to anyone else, then you might just get a different perspective on your life. I really does make you think about a lot of things.
The cast for this movie was flawless. You just could not imagine anyone else playing these roles. These characters are so stuck in our heads that the idea of this movie being remade and recast is the most offensive idea that one could think of. James Stewart and Donna Reed were perfect in the movie. This is a movie that never needs to be touch.
This is the most beloved Christmas movie since it was released in theaters. This movie is watched every single Christmas by tons of families all over the world. Many feel that it just does not feel like Christmas until you watch this movie. I would have to agree with them. Enjoy.
