The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016)

Director: Cedric Nicolas-Troyan

Stars: Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt

Long before the evil Queen Ravenna was thought vanquished by Snow White’s blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya, suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom.  With Freya’s ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly huntsmen including Eric and warrior Sara only to find that her prized two defied her one demand: Forever harden your hearts to love. When Freya learns of her sister’s demise, she summons her remaining soldiers to bring the Magic Mirror home to the only sorceress left who can harness its power.  But once she discovers Ravenna can be resurrected from its golden depths, the wicked sisters threaten this enchanted land with twice the darkest force it’s ever seen.  Now, their amassing army shall prove undefeatable, unless the banished huntsmen who broke their queen’s cardinal rule can fight their way back to one another.

Here is what is going on, after Snow White took the castle. She is not in this one at all, but it deals with the problems between the evil queens and the Huntsmen looking for the magic mirror to save the rest of the world from becoming ice and snow. They never mentioned any of this in the Disney cartoon, but they never made a sequel, even though they started to. The story is still interesting.

The special effects are pretty much the same as it was in the first one, but they were still really good. It was just this movie was made for money and that was it. There did not need to be a sequel to this movie at all, but they did.

If you think about this movie and look at it, you will see how much they took from the Disney movie Frozen. This movie was almost an evil live action version of the animated movie. Just change the names, so that they match up and there you have it. Almost the same movie. I wonder, if they ever even thought about that.

This is a really good no matter what. The story is good, and the special effects are great. It is something that the whole family can watch together. I think so. Enjoy.
