In 1972, before the internet and before the porn explosion-Deep Throat was a phenomenon. It was the first scripted pornographic theatrical feature film, featuring a story, some jokes, and an unknown and unlikely star, Linda Lovelace. Escaping a strict religious family, Linda discovered freedom and the highlife when she fell for and married charismatic hustler Chuck Traynor. As Linda Lovelace she became an international sensation-less centerfold fantasy than a charming girl next door with an impressive capacity for fellatio. Fully inhabiting her new identity, Linda became an enthusiastic spokesperson for sexual freedom and uninhibited hedonism. Six years later she presented another, utterly contradictory, narrative to the world-and herself as the survivor of a far darker story.
I only knew very little about Linda Lovelace from what I had saw on the old talk shows. I was shocked to see how she was treated by her first husband, but he was a coke head and a drunk. That was pretty common in the 70's in the porn industry. Drugs were all over the place in Southern California. She was in the porn industry for such a short time period, but she made the biggest impact out of all of them.
Deep Throat made Linda Lovelace a star all over the world. This one porn made history, and it took her to the top. She had a hard life dealing with her fame and the abuse that she went though that period of time. This is defiantly worth watching. It is sad at times, but it is always entertaining. If you can find it watch it. You may learn something interesting. Enjoy.
