Fifteen years after Hansel and Gretel defeated the wicked witch who planned to have them for her dinner, the siblings have come of age as skilled bounty hunters. Hell-bent on retribution, they have dedicated their lives to hunting down and destroying every witch still lurking in the dark forests of their homeland. As the notorious blood moon approaches, the siblings face a great evil, one that could hold the secret to their terrifying past.
This movie is based on the famous children's story of Hansel and Gretel, but now they are grown up and killing witches. When I first heard about this movie, I have absolutely no interest at all in watching it. It took me a few years to watch it. I can honestly say that it is not a bad movie at all. It does try to be scary, but it really fails at that. There is nothing scary about this movie at all.
This is more of an action and adventure movie than anything else. There are some great stunts in this movie. The fight scenes are very crafted to really make it all seem real. The makeup work for the witches are incredible. They do look a bit cheesy at times, but the overall effect seals the deal. They looked creepy and great for the movie.
The cast for this movie was well played. They got good people, but not great actors to play the roles. Famke Janssen was the best in the movie. She is a beautiful woman that seems like behind her eyes there is pure evil with a pleasant smile in the front. I really did like her for the role.
I would recommend this movie to all. It kind of has it all. You have fantasy and a bit of horror for the whole family. It is not gross or dirty at all. Enjoy.
