The Hateful Eight (2015)

Director: Quentin Tarantino

Stars: Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demián Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Zoë Bell, Channing Tatum

Sometime after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. Bounty hunter John Ruth and his fugitive captive Daisy Domergue race towards the town of Red Rock, where Ruth will bring Daisy to justice. Along the road, they encounter Major Marquis Warren, an infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix, a man who claims to be Red Rock's new sheriff. Lost in a blizzard, the bunch seeks refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery. When they arrive they are greeted by unfamiliar faces: Bob, who claims to be taking care of the place while Minnie is gone; Oswaldo Mobray, the hangman of Red Rock; Joe Gage, a cow puncher; and confederate general Sanford Smithers. As the storm overtakes the mountainside, the eight travelers come to learn that they might not make it to Red Rock after all.

Let me just get this out of the way. This is a good movie, but we have seen most of these characters and actions before in his other movies. Just think about it for a minute. This is not a bad movie at all. It was really entertaining. Most people think that the problem is that it is a Western. That is not it at all. The movie runs too slow in several different places. The movie is almost 3 hours long. I know that has turned off a few that I know of from watching the movie. It is just too long.

The action and the violence in the movie was just what you expect from a Tarantino. The death scenes and wounds are over the top without stopping. He still takes you there in his movies. You got the bloodshed and gore all around.

The cast was some of the best actors that you can find. Does Samuel L. Jackson's character act like an older version of his character in Pulp Fiction? I was just so glad to see Jennifer Jason Leigh in a movie again. It has been too long. For the most part he does reuse his cast. I'm just afraid that he is stuck in some sort of loop.

It just seems like it to me. Most of the character seem like we have seen or heard some of the lines before in his other movies. Is he writing the same movie over and just changing some parts of it? See a loop. I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. It just was not his best. It was a really good movie. I was just expecting even more, because of the hype. This is one to watch, but do not watch this movie around kids. It is too much for them. Enjoy.
