Peace officer Lisa Nolan comes to Aran Island, Ireland, to take charge during a colleague's two-week holiday. Simultaneously, blood-thirsty, sea-dwelling aliens arrive at the quiet island to propagate. As dead whales wash up on shore and people start mysteriously disappearing, officers and a few locals slowly discover their peril along with one sure defense - high blood alcohol levels, which the aliens can't stomach. As a storm approaches, enabling hungry hatchlings access to the locals, an open bar kicks off a desperate bid for survival as inebriated police and friends stagger to remain cognizant long enough to thwart the alien invasion.
This was surprisingly a good movie. I thought it was going to be this cheesy as hell B-rate horror/sci-fi movie, like something you would see on the Sci-fi channel. This ended up being a good movie with an actual story.
Russell Tovey was the most well known member of the cast, at least in America. The entire cast of the movie was really well played. The grabbers looked like a rectum crossed with an octopus. It was a really cool and yet frightening creature. It was fast and sneaky when it found its prey. They did not look like they were cut out of cardboard and glued on to the scene. The CGI parts on this movie worked so well to completely create the movie and the story.
This is a good movie to check out. I know that it may sound a bit cheesy, but the movie is actually good. If you can find a copy, you should give it a try. I think that you will like it. Enjoy.
