Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)

Director: Rupert Wyatt

Stars: James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo

Will Rodman, a scientist in San Francisco, is experimenting with a drug that he hopes will cure his father's Alzheimer's disease. After his work is deemed a failure, Will becomes the guardian of Caesar, an infant chimp who was exposed in-utero to Will's drug. Caesar displays unusual intelligence, and Will decides to continue his experiments secretly. But as Caesar's intellect and abilities grow, he comes to represent a threat to man's dominion over Earth.

When I heard about this movie coming out, I was not happy at all. This is my favorite series of movies. I just wanting them left alone. The remake of the original one that Tim Burton did was not bad, but for hardcore fans, it was not enough and too much at the time. I really did like this movie.

This movie was part remake of Escape from the Plant of the Apes and Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. It was a mixture of the two movies. I do not mean scene by scene. I mean the concept of this movie. It had some of the part of both movie to make this one. I love those two movies in the series, so it just made sense that I would like this one.

Andy Serkis did it again, and he made you believe that this chimp was real and alive. He got the parts and movement down to bring this character to life. It was outstanding. The rest of the cast was really good in their part. James Franco showed a loving and butureing side, instead of acting like a sex crazed weirdo. John Lithgow was wonderful as always, and you heart went out for that character. You cared for him as well. Tom Felton is the one you wanted to kill in the movie. They way he treated those apes and his behavior, you wanted him to die a horrible death.

This was a brilliant movie. The special effects were great. This is one of those movies that I could talk way too much about, and then there is no reason for you to see the movie. I would recommend this movie to anyone, if they have not watched it by now. This is a movie to add to your collection. Enjoy.
