Frozen (2010)

Director: Adam Green

Stars: Shawn Ashmore, Emma Bell, Kevin Zegers, Kane Hodder

At Mount Holliston, Dan Walker, his girlfriend Parker O'Neil and his best friend Joe Lynch do not have enough money to buy lift tickets, so Parker flirts with the operator to get on for less money. After spending the day on the mountain, they are about to close due to a storm coming in. They beg the guy for one last slope. While returning back down from the lift, it stops half way down leaving them stuck up there for the rest of the weekend with a big storm coming that night. They have to survive till Monday or figure out how to get down with a pack of wolves in the area.

This is one of those movies that will make you think twice about bribing someone to get a cheap pass, because that person is the only one that knows you are really up there, so he does not really care what happens, as long as he does not get into trouble. You really do feel and sense that terror that they are experiencing up on the lift. No one knows or cares that you are up there on a lift that is closed for the weekend. That equals screwed. Then you have some wolves show up hungry as hell staring up at you and your friends just hoping that you will fall or jump. It makes the whole situation worse.

The small cast for the movie was good. Shawn Ashmore was good as he is in everything that he does. Kane Hodder was the surprise as the snowplow driver. It was a scene that only lasted a couple of minutes, but it was nice to see him as something else besides a monster.

The movie was not over done with tons of CGI special effects. The gore death scenes were really hard to watch. it was just painful as hell. The look and feel of the movie was simple and effective. The additions of the wolves made the movie more intense. I felt it coming, but I just was not sure if they were going to be that obvious. It made the movie a bit better. They was a down part to the movie that just kept taking me out of the movie. The talking was getting pointless. I know what in the hell are you suppose to do up there, but I just did not care at all about their conversations. It just thrown me out.

I liked this movie for the most part. It hard it all even though the movie did drag a bit for me. I think it is good enough to watch, but not really to own, unless you find it really cheap. Give it a chance though. The death scenes are pretty good. Enjoy.
