It's 1987 and Danielle is tired of how she is treated at school and the man that her mother is dating. She is teamed up with the chubby gay guy, Clarke, in school for a school project. His father is verbal and physically abusive, so the two of them run away to California to find Danielle's father in hopes of a better life. On the way the two become great friends and learn a lot about themselves.
She is the slutty girl in high school that you would want t be friends with if she would even talk to you. Clarke is the guy that you would hide from or throw things at. He is just gross and annoying, but these two odd characters together works so well in this movie. You become to love the school whore and the gay fat kid. They are both in a confusing and difficult time in their life, but they are dealing with all of it together.
For this movie to have completely flopped, it had a big talented cast. I was so surprised while watching this movie of who all was in it. They were all incredible in their roles. You really believed that they were theses people.
This is a sweet, cool and sometimes a bit of an emotional movie, but do not let that stop you from watching it. I loved this movie. If you were alive and/or remembered 1987, then you will liked this movie a lot. The look and the music in the movie are great. Enjoy.
