When Abraham Lincoln was 9, he witness his mother being killed by a vampire. Years later, Abe tries to kill the same vampire by fails. He meets Henry Sturges at a bar , and he teaches him how to hunt vampires to finish them all for good. Abe could only go after the vampires that Sturges tells him to kill. After a while, he starts to make a permanent change by running for President and ending an upcoming war between the states. The vampires have joined the war to fight for the South.
This movie was based on the novel by the same name written by Seth Grahame-Smith. This was a mash-up of historical facts with the world of fantasy horror. It sounds like a real stupid idea, but the actual story is better than one would think. I mean, no one would ever think that Lincoln would have ever hunted and killed vampires. Well for one thing, they do not exist, so it could never happen.
The story itself is not bad at all. You a young Lincoln that sees his mother killed by a vampire, then spends the rest of his life looking for the one that killed his mother. While all of this is happening, the country is changing with the help of Lincoln. The real and the fantasy mixing together to make for an interesting story.
The best part of the movie was the special effects and CGI work all through the movie. There are some great action and fighting scenes all through the movie. It is very Matrix, but it is still something to see. The gore level was higher than I thought it would be. The movie has the right amount of blood and gore in it to keep the horror/gore fans watching.
This movie was so much better than I thought it was going to be. I was not expecting much at all. I was pleasantly surprised. If you have not seen this movie, then I think you should give it a chance. You just may like it. Enjoy.
