Larry Daley is an unemployed and divorced father that is about to lose his apartment. His son Nick is starting to completely lose faith in his father to turn his life around. Larry gets a job as a night guard at the Museum of Natural History. The three older guards are being retired, so Larry will have to look after the museum all by himself. The old guards to not tell him that after the museum closes everything in the place comes to life and you have to keep everything indoors. Larry brings his son after a few days so he can experienced it for himself. The old guards have a plan to upset the museum.
The special effects in this movie were great. To see a skeleton of a T-Rex running around in a building playing fetch like a dog. The story was a bit thin, but this movie was made for more looks than the content. It is a true family movie. It appeals to all ages. That being said, it is not one of the best movies.
The highlight of the whole movie was the supporting cast. Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney as two of the guards was a treat to see. They are both incredible actors that most younger people have no idea who they are. The rest of the cast played their parts well. The movie came together as a whole.
The movie looks good and, it is good for the whole family. It is just not a movie that you would want to watch over and over, unless you were a small child. That is just my opinion. This is a watchable movie. Enjoy.
