American Sniper (2014)

Director: Clint Eastwood

Stars: Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Kyle Gallner, Jonathan Groff

Chris Kyle was a man from Texas working on becoming a professional cowboy. After the terrorist attack in New York City happened, he joined the Navy Seals to help defend the country from terrorists. Kyle married and then was called for his first tour of duty in Iraq. After four tours in Iraq and being known as the best American Sniper ever, the pressure on his two different lives started to cross over one another. His military life was starting to effect his home life with his family. This is the story of Chris Kyle.

This is not a movie that I would normally watch, but I was so glad that I did. I knew several people that did tours over there, and I was so glad that the movie show how the soldiers are mentally and emotionally effected after serving a tour. The scene that you think he is watching footage from the war or a war movie, but it is all in his head. All of the noise and the screaming and gun fire trapped inside his head. I was so glad that was included in the movie. It is important for the rest of society to see what really happens to these men.

Clint Eastwood has done it again. I think I have said it before, but it is still true. He is a great actor, but who really knew how wonderful of a director that he would turn into later on in his career. He has an eye for a scene and capturing a moment like few could ever do.

Bradley Cooper out did himself. He is normally just good or average in movie, but never great. It took this role to place him in a higher category of actors. He really pulled it out for this role. You almost believe that he is this character. The rest of the supporting cast make the movie more solid and real. You could feel the emotions coming through from the actors.

This was a great biopic from Hollywood. I was very impressed with the acting and the movie itself. It is a very sad and tragic story, but the story also shows people who a war can affect the soldiers and their families. It does not show it all, but a glimpse into these lives. Enjoy.
