Vlad and his family rule over their small kingdom in the
mountains. The Turk warlord comes to demand a thousand boys and Vlad's son to
create a powerful army. Vlad seeks out the power to be able to beat the Turk's
army and save his land. While in the mountains, he comes upon a cave with bats
pouring out of it. In the cave, Vlad meets the Master Vampire that gives him
the power and strength that he desires to defeat the Turks. The one problem is
that he has to become a vampire and live forever.
This is the, if you must say, the prequel to all of the
Dracula movies that have ever been make. Only one other movie has ever
discussed what happened before with Vlad and that was Copula's version. This
one goes into a lot more details than the other movie. You get to see the
battle and the actual transformation from human to vampire. You also get to see
the Master Vampire for the first time in a movie. That I thought was a rare
scene.
Even though there is a lot going on at times in this movie,
the movie is a bit boring. There, I said it. The story seemed like it was taken
out of the center of an old book, and not a rather good one. The story just
drug out too long for me. I wanted either the movie to be very gothic and
romantic or scary and bloody as hell. It was really neither. It almost tried to
be both. It was not what I had hoped it would be.
It is a movie worth watching, I guess. It is not the best
not the worst Dracula movie out there. It gives you the information on how he
became that way, if it is worth it to you. It will give you something to watch.
Enjoy?
