Brad Jenkins is a gay single college professor who is about to turn 40 in a few days. His parents wedding anniversary is on the same day as his birthday. His best friend Julie is lecturing him on his mid-life crisis. He wrecks his car that night to only wake up in an alternate reality where gay is the norm and straight is bad. He is back in high school where all of his real high school dreams are true, but there are other problems that he needs to deal with.
The idea of a grown gay man getting to go back in time back to high school, and he gets asked out by the hottest most sought out guy in school. You two become "the" couple in school, but you still have the mindset of a 40 year old man. There are people that would kill for that story line.
The main characters are really cute and all, but the acting is just not there at all. They actors in the movie do a decent job for the fact that this was a low budget indie movie with a limited audience. I can understand for those reasons. The movie does play out like an more adult After School Special movie that you would run home to watch. Those days are gone. The script would have some people a bit lost where this movie was going. Other reviews really point to that fact, and I can understand that.
The movie adds a bit too much for what could have been a more simple story and a better movie.
This movie is not an Oscar winner or anything like that. It will not change your life, but it is a good movie to watch. Just give the movie a chance. You may end up liking it. Enjoy.
