Make the Yuletide Gay (2009)

Director: Rob Williams

Stars: Keith Jordan, Wyatt Fenner, Steve Callahan, Adamo Ruggiero, Kelly Keaton, Derek Long

Olaf "Gunn" Gunnunderson is the gay man on his college campus. It's Christmas break, and Gunn is going home to his Midwestern family home. His boyfriend, Nathan, is going home to his parents home for the holidays. Nathan receives a call from his parents with news about his parents winning an action for a Christmas cruise to the Middle East. The only problem is that there are only two tickets, so Nathan will be spending Christmas at home alone. Gunn is settling in at his parent's house when Nathan shows up at the front door to stay there. Nathan discovers that Gunn's parents do not know that is gay, and they think that they are just roommates. They both have to create the charade that They are both straight. The girl next door, Abby, helps by still showing to still have a crush on Gunn.

This was a really good gay Christmas movie without being overly gay or cheesy. The story is a basic coming out story set at Christmas. The movie seems really bad and campy by looking at the movie cover, but it was almost sweet and charming.

The best characters and scenes in the movie are with Gunn's parents. I loved them both. The interaction and dialogue was well written. They were not trying to be too sweet or over the top. They were just normal and loving, well with the Dad being a pothead made those scenes pretty sweet. The dialogue between Gunn and Nathan were good, but with the Nathan character there were times where some lines seemed out of place or just too much. If you have seen the movie, you will know what I mean.

I like Rob Williams movies. Not all of them are good, but several of them are. He uses the same actors in most of his movies. He was going to make a sequel to this movie, but it looks like that whole idea has been scrapped. I have been looking forward to a continuation of these characters, it looks like we will not get it. I hope he changes his mind.

I think this is a movie that needs to be purchased, if you are a big fan of gay movies. I thought it was great. Enjoy.
